Dag Rogge at home: Europe’s new Land Rover Experience Centre in Wülfrath is bigger, better and responsible

Sprache wechseln German

The Land Rover Experience concept began in the 1990s—Wülfrath was one of the pioneer locations under the guidance of Dag Rogge and, during 25 years of business, Land Rover Experience Centre 1.0 welcomed close to 100,000 visitors. Today, there are 30 centres spread across 16 regions including China, Russia, South Africa, Europe, Scandinavia, United Kingdom, and North America. Of those in Europe, Germany’s new centre in Wülfrath, near Düsseldorf, is the largest and most diverse.

BIGGER AND BETTER

The new Land Rover Experience Centre, or LEC as they are called amongst the community, is a purpose-built 5,6-kilometre course spread over 17 hectares with no less than 25 obstacles, including a water basin with depths between 40 and 90 cm, rollers for demonstrating traction control and differential locks, axle articulation with a 40-centimetre peak, ascents / descents graded 30, 45, 50, 60, and 70%, cross channels, deep articulation potholes, 30° inclined drive, sandpit, dry river bed, rock crawling, and a bridge made from tree trunks.

ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE

This educational and challenging parcours is the result of exhaustive planning and took a full year to construct—not just for the driving experience, but also because of the environmental restrictions: to ensure the terrain isn’t subjected to any ongoing unnecessary damage and can be returned to its original state some time further down the line, each obstacle is secured with grass grid stones set upon a robust foil, which protects the ground beneath.

4×4 ADVENTURE FOR EVERYONE

The new LEC takes off-road driver training in Germany to the next level. There are courses and events aimed at individuals, groups, companies, and the unique Kids Drives for upcoming adventurers aged between eleven and seventeen.

To make the experience even more memorable, cameras inside and outside the vehicle capture footage which is then compiled into a top-notch video of the participant tackling each challenge.

So what are you waiting for? If you want to try out any of the current range of Land Rover and Range Rover models, learn how to drive safely in an off-road environment, improve existing skills, or prepare yourself for an overland trip, then reach out to the team in Wülfrath.

Alternatively, Land Rover Experience offers self-drive adventure tours amidst breathtaking terrain in Botswana, Namibia, Crete, and Iceland.
