Alongside these mechanical and comfort improvements, INEOS has introduced a new Black Edition, expanding the range of pre-configured models with a high-spec option positioned as a ready-to-go package rather than a bespoke build.

Steering revised, character retained

The most significant update for 2026 sits at the steering wheel. INEOS has introduced a new steering box with a variable ratio for the first time, altering how the Grenadier behaves on the road without compromising its off-road geometry.

Around the central steering position, the ratio is now lower, delivering a firmer, more precise feel. The result is improved confidence during high-speed cruising, lane changes, and overtaking, as well as more controlled handling on fast A- and B-roads. Crucially, the ratio at the ends of the steering rack remains unchanged, ensuring steering articulation and feedback off-road are unaffected.

INEOS has also reduced the turning circle by around five percent. Revised steering stops improve manoeuvrability both in urban environments and on tight trails, making the Grenadier easier to place in confined spaces.

Cabin comfort and driver control

Beyond steering, the 2026 Grenadier benefits from upgraded climate control hardware. INEOS says the changes improve both performance and predictability of heating and cooling, making the cabin a more comfortable place to spend long days behind the wheel.

Driver assistance systems have also been updated where required to meet the latest regulations. A new home-screen shortcut now allows one-touch deactivation of the audible alert for Intelligent Speed Assist … a small but welcome change for drivers who regularly operate off-road or in variable speed environments.

Black Edition expands the range

Joining the line-up for 2026 is the Grenadier Black Edition, offered as both a station wagon and Quartermaster pick-up. Based on the well-specified Fieldmaster trim, it is intended to provide a high-spec configuration without the need to navigate the options list.

The Black Edition is available exclusively in Inky Black and features a series of darkened exterior details, including gloss black 18-inch alloy wheels, a Dark Exterior Pack with black grille and skid plates, privacy glass, and a lockable spare wheel storage box. Inside, dark headlining and carpet flooring complete the theme.

Pricing starts at £71,995 on the road. While production volume is not capped, the Black Edition will be available for a limited production window, with order books now open.

Pricing unchanged elsewhere

Pricing across the rest of the 2026 Grenadier range remains unchanged. The Grenadier Utility Wagon starts at £51,930* (€71,140), with both the Quartermaster pick-up and the standard Grenadier priced from £62,495* (€72,640). Trialmaster and Fieldmaster editions are available from £69,995* (€81,890).

INEOS’s approach for 2026 is clear: incremental improvements driven by real-world use, not a shift in positioning. The Grenadier remains a deliberately uncompromising 4×4 … just one that is now easier to live with day to day.

The first INEOS Grenadier prototype is on display at the Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace, London, over the weekend of 4 to 6 September, playing a supporting role to the INEOS Automotive’s collection of legendary off-road vehicles.

INEOS Automotive’s Concours display will feature a number of historic 4x4s, most notably the first ever production Land-Rover (registration JUE 477), a full and sympathetic restoration of which has recently been completed. Also being shown are a fully restored Toyota FJ40 (1980), a Willys Jeep (1944) that was used by the US Navy in WWII, and a classic  Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen (1988).

“At the outset of the Grenadier project, we brought some of the great 4x4s of the past into the studio to look closely at what made them so enduring,” said Toby Ecuyer, Head of Design at INEOS Automotive. “And now, it’s fantastic to see Grenadier in the company of these legends. You can see common design traits and proportions, and certainly the same clarity of purpose. I think the Grenadier sits very naturally among these 4×4 icons, and if others agree, then we’ve achieved our design objective.”

Prototype testing of the Grenadier is now fully underway, with the aim of accumulating 1.8 million kilometres on- and off-road over the coming year. Sales are planned to start in markets worldwide from the end of 2021.

The Concours of Elegance is one of the world’s most celebrated showpiece events for classic and vintage cars. The Concours returns to Hampton Court Palace in London for the fourth consecutive year in 2020, after being staged in previous years at Windsor Castle, St James’s Palace in London and at the Palace of Holyroodhouse (Edinburgh). As well as bringing together a selection of 60 of the rarest cars from around the world to compete in the Concours, hundreds of other fine motor cars will be displayed by car clubs in a bid to win The Club Trophy.
