The stainless steel Atago has been a reliable travel companion for two years. It’s immediately ready to use as a firepit straight out of the box (or the optional canvas case).  

Petromax offers a wide range of equipment to make outdoor life and cooking as simple or as comfortable as you wish. With it’s accessories, the Atago is a highly versatile piece of kit. If you pick it up using the handle and give it slight jolt, three legs fold out, the grill section extends upward and automatically locks. The set includes a barbecue grate but it can also accommodate a dutch oven.

Once you’re finished with cooking and want to settle down around a campfire with your mates to spin yarns, all you need to do is carefully lift the outer ring of the body (wearing suitably insulated gloves); the three legs fold in; the grill section lowers out of the way. Remove the barbecue grate and the firepit is ready to take on wood. Even after continued use, the mechanism still works as well as it did when I first took it out of the box.

Packed in its sturdy canvas case, the Atago measures approx. 41 cm in diameter x 17 cm high, and weighs 7.6 kg (∅ 40 cm x H 15 cm, 6.1 kg without case). The package is not completely rattle-free, but the grate is stowed in a separate inner compartment of the optional case to minimise the noise. Two-year warranty, made in Germany.
