The production line in Hambach is back on stream for the Grenadier and Quartermaster 4X4s. Following a deafening silence in those hallowed halls, due to a supplier insolvency that crimped seat availability late last year, normality returns.
“This is a fantastic kickoff to the year for us, and I’m convinced this is going to be our best one yet, building on the over 40% growth we experienced in 2024,” declared Lynn Calder, CEO of INEOS Automotive.
“We are so proud to have more than 20,000 Grenadiers on the roads and trails around the world. Significant new markets like Mexico and China created incremental demand just when we had to hit pause on the production line, so it is heartening to already hear the familiar ‘toot’ as vehicles roll through the quality check lines again. We’ve got some catching up to do, but we’re up for the challenge.”
This year marks a significant milestone, as the plant swings into its third full year of Grenadier series production, with customer orders already flowing out the gates. The first vehicle off the line on January 16th was a sleek Scottish White Utility Wagon (5-seat) headed for the sun-soaked roads of southern France, followed closely by a striking duo in the brand-new Devil Red.
Speaking of Devil Red, this bold hue adds a dash of energetic allure to the Grenadier Station Wagon and Quartermaster, marking the eleventh color option available, complete with a chic contrast roof in white or black. And that’s not all—making its debut alongside Devil Red is the Grenadier 1924. This special edition comes packed with essential lifestyle accessories and a touch of premium design flair, perfect for those who want their 4X4 to boast both timeless substance and undeniable style. Limited to just 1,924 units to honour Belstaff’s centenary, it’s an enthusiast’s dream.
But the action doesn’t stop there! With the curtain falling on smart ForTwo production earlier in 2024, the now-emptied production line has been cleared away, paving the way for exciting new INEOS product developments. It’ll be interesting to see what the future holds in store.
“We’re very grateful for the patience of our customers, suppliers and production teams as we worked through a difficult situation. We are very proud of our Hambach facility, it is testament to the grit and rigour that underpins INEOS, reopening the doors ready to build on the solid foundations laid last year”, added Philippe Steyer, President INEOS Automotive SAS.
